Red, white and blue.

Those have been the colours of the day.

Finished painting the Eastern "Stabbur" wall. Red wall, and today I did the second coating on the gable board - white.  So very glad to have finished at least one of the four stabbur walls. Next year we need to do the remaining three walls and all of the house walls. Had hoped to do it all this summer, but alas. Anyway, now that wakefulness and energy seem to return (yay!), I hope next summer I can attack the job with my superpowers.

The blue comes from another job I did today - picking our Aronia berries. This year's batch will be used to make Bjørn's delicious aronia syrup.

Happy Chappy!

Was up at 7am. Had a shower, brought order to a catastrophic mess of a kitchen, did the dishes, fed the dog, did a couple of hours of school work, did the NYT games with Bjørn when he got up. Also vacuumed the entire house and tidied up everywhere. Made dinner, deep cleaned the stove and walked the dog. What I did NOT do, was sit down on the coach and fall asleep. The damned annoying hate object of a CPAP is undoubtedly working. I do not yet dare believe that this is my life from now on, but oh my is it promising!

This is how AI thinks it must be:

Oooot and abooot.

Got up early, drove in to Askim to go to the dentist.  Had lost a dental crown, and it was starting to be a little painful. So happy to finally have found a brilliant and friendly dentist, so I am happy to travel over an hour to get there. Then had a phonecall from social services. I currently get half of my income from them since this sleeping thing has messed up my work capacity. I told them my intention still was to get back to working 100% on September 27th. And if today is anything to judge by, I will be able to do so, I think.  Then I did the weekly grocery shopping and drove home.

Got a bad head ache again and took it easy for the rest of the day.

To the vet

Aro was neutered a while back and today he had the stitches removed. Bjørn had an appointment with the eye doctor for himself, so I took the furball to his appointment. He was sooo well behaved, and did not move a cm when our vet Kjetil too out the stitches. He was rewarded with snacks from Kjetil, and all was well. We did a weigh-in also. He was overweight (Aro, not Kjetil) half a year ago. Now he is down 6 kilos and has reached his target weight. To make the trip a little nicer for Aro, we had three stops on the way home. First by a war memorial. I wanted a cute dog-on-bench picture of Aro, but he was not cooperating.

He was thirsty, so our next stop was by a lake. We walked down to it and he drank quite a bit.

Our third stop was by anther lake. Aro was far to busy sniffing to care about looking good on photos....

Then home where the rest of the day was spent nursing a head ache.

The death of a King

The Norwegian King died this week. A man so loved and respected that any serious discussion about the monarchy has been kept at bay.  He was just an all around good and decent person who has made a positive difference for a lot of people. Not to mention a man tolerant of and open to diversity, and one who made a point of including all people in this country as his countrymen. I am not a monarchist, but willing to give praise where praise is due. When I came to work today, this was in the hallway. All those who want to can put a rose on the wall for the late King.

CPAP update

I have been a little disappointed with the CPAP. I have heard so many stories of people who feel so much better from day one. Their energy return, and they are a hundred percent awake. I have now had the mask for two weeks, and it has not been a miracle cure for me. I still feel tired and sleepy. So, I searched for user experiences online, and that made me feel better. It was so clear that experiences vary. Some felt better after day one. For some it took weeks, for others it took months. And it seemed that for those with severe sleep apnea, it took longer time. So, no longer quite as discouraged. And though I still feel far from being my old self, it struck me that this last week I have not fallen asleep on the sofa in the evenings. And I have been able to drive to work without taking breaks to sleep. I have not needed the 15 minute sleep in the car before I went in to work. And one of my colleagues told me I look a bit healthier now.  So though I still feel sleepy and tired, I am, after all, less sleepy and perhaps even less tired.  Baby steps. I will just keep at it.

Painting!

Up at 7, had breakfast with Joanna and drove to Slitu to do a week's worth of grocery shopping. Came home, had  breakfast and a rest while doing our NYT games. And since the weather was right for it, out to paint. Bjørn had given the East side of the "stabbur" two layers of red, so now it was my time to climb up the ladder and paint the roof ridge white. My fear of heights (yeah, that too), made me panic and breath in a square, but I did it, which was good for me.

Meanwhile Bjørn put the second coating on the lower part on the West side.

Long day

My turn to lead the evening course today. Two pupils, both of them Thai women. I kept it going for the allotted time from 5pm till 7.30pm. What fun we had!

I left work at around 8.15  pm and went to Joanna's place. She was walking her dog, so I locked myself in and had a nice little rest on her terrace.

Getting used to working

After such a long time away from work, it takes a while to get into the swing of things. But it is good to be back in the classroom.

Evening course

We started a new evening course at work today, not really knowing who would come. The course will be two evenings a week. On Mondays the teacher is a colleague of mine, on Wednesday the teacher is me. Since it was the first evening, I had offered to stay there, and help with registration of potential new pupils while my colleague was teaching. We had one pupil attend class, and ONE who came for registration. The new one was not on the same level as the one in the class, so we now have two whole pupils, but they need to be in different classes. Yay.

Left work at around 7pm. Went to sleep over at Joanna's.  She and her dog Mia are such a sweet couple!

Starting late, but well

Had a very slow start of the day. Had 7 hours in the CPAP, but felt tired and drowsy. But at around 2pm, I got started. Got quite a bit done, included two hours worth of weeding. The younger butterflies are finding food where they can, so they can survive a dormant winter.  My coneflower was covered in butterflies, and I am happy I can provide nutrients for them this late in summer.

Bjørn did some more painting today, I tidied up a little here and there.

Aro is neutered

Because of a lump caused by testosteron, the vet told us the furball needed to be less of a man. So for the third time in a relatively short time, he was off to the vet and put under general anesthesia . Poor love.
